Shota Rustaveli academic drama theatre was constructed in 1898-1901 by the architects Corneli Tatishev and Alexander Mishkevich at first it was for the artists ’ society that functioned that time in Georgia. Its façade is richly decorated with various architectural elements. Wide glass cases and pilasters of Corinthian orders organically merge with each other. The exterior is enriched with sculptured wreathes in rococo style together with shells and entablatures made of shell style friezes. This building is distinguished with the style synthesis. Each ornament naturally mixed with each other and defines the image of the building granting the individualism to it at the same time. |
