Composer Revaz Lagidze sculpture opening ceremony on Baratashvili Street

Cmoposer Revaz Lagidze sculpture was opened on Baratashvili Street, which was sculptured by Tengiz Baratashvili.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor of the capital Kakha Kaladze, Deputy Mayor Sophio Khuntsaria and Chairman of the City Assembly Giorgi Tkemaladze.

Kakha Kaladze addressed the people gathered at the meeting and once again congratulated on the celebration of “Tbilisoba”.

"It is a great honor for me to open Revaz Lagidze's sculpure. He has a number of wonderful compositions, in order to be recognized by the whole country even "Tbiliso" is enough. He was quite young, at the age of 38 he wrote this song and it can be said that it has become a hymn of our capital. It is very important that the opening ceremony was coincided with the celebration of Tbilisoba ", - said the mayor of the capital.

Simultaneously, Kakha Kaladze invited guests and residents of Tbilisi to Gala Concert, which was held on the first Republic Square and was dedicated to Revaz Lagidze's creations.

According to sculptor Tengiz Abramishvili, the portrait is in bronze and the inscription on it is built on the notes.

„ There was no a statue of the author of „Tbiliso“ in Tbilisi and the idea of ​​creating a sculpture was exactly the reason. I needed a few years to work on it. My work was selected in the contest announced by the City Hall. There were different opinions about the place. In the end, the old Tbilisi district was selected, where old architecture is combined with modernity, "- said the sculptor.

Along with the Mayor of Tbilisi, the City Assembly and Parliament deputies, as well as celebrities of the society, attended the opening of the scuplture.

Following the opening, the concert of the ensemble "Georgian Voices" was held, where the mayor of the capital performed the song - Revaz Lagidze's "Tbiliso".
