International Bicyclists Group In Tbilisi

The volunteers of 6 countries in order to maintain the values of Olympic games began cycling from Greece. The Vice- Mayor and the representatives of the diplomatic corps in Georgia met  and hosted the bicyclists passing Georgia on their way , at the city council.

“We are the witnesses of a very interesting occurrence, it is a peaceful cycling that was commenced by Italian, Polish, German, Greek and French citizens.  It should be noted  as well  that these people got in touch with each other via internet and choose the silk road as a route, I think these people are dedication their  cycling  to the world peace,”-  commented Mamuka Akhvlediani, the Vice-Mayor.

The international group of bicyclists consists of 12 members, and according to them the key principle of their traveling is linked with the traditions of the  Olympic games.

“In the  ancient time the Olympic games were held in Greece, due to this fact we stared  our traveling from this country, and we have even specially chosen the route- silk road, it is already 44 days since we have been on the way, we entered Georgia from Turkey and we like your city and people very much,  Georgia boasts  with its ancient history and culture, we  will stay here for two days, our key aim is to link the Asian and European cultures with each other, “- said Sigitas Skuchas.

The bicyclists came to our city yesterday evening and they will embark on their route to Azerbaijan tomorrow morning, 171 days traveling will end in the capital of China- Peking.
